Hunza sees positive take-up for office block

GEORGE TOWN: Hunza Properties Bhd sees positive take-up for Hunza Tower, its 10-storey office block at the new Gurney Paragon Mall, said executive chairman Datuk Khor Teng Tong.

He said the office tower is almost fully taken up by renowned companies, but declined to divulge the names of the tenants as formal agreements have yet to be signed.

To date, Hunza has leased out some 65,000 sq ft of the office space out of the 100,000 sq ft that was available, Khor told reporters after the opening of Hunza’s new corporate office yesterday.

State local government, traffic management and flood mitigation committee chairman Chow Kon Yeow did the honours.

Khor said Hunza’s corporate office, which had been at Greenlane for the past 20 years, was moved to Hunza Tower to reflect the transformation of the company’s status from property developer to real estate landlord.

“My team and I have brought Hunza to a decent level ... When we listed on the KL Stock Exchange (now Bursa Malaysia) in 2000, our net worth was RM80 million.

“Now it has grown to more than half a billion ringgit. This Hunza Tower is the best testimony that reflects our status,” he said.

Hunza, which occupies 2½ floors of the building, has its corporate office on the 19th and 20th floors.  — Bernama
