MALAYSIAN Resources Corporation Bhd’s (MRCB) Menara Shell project has again bagged a top property award at the Malaysian Property Press Awards 2015 (MPPA 2015), taking the Best Office category, while its 9 Seputeh project won the Best High-rise Condominium.
Menara Shell’s MPPA win came a week after it grabbed the top place at the FIABCI Malaysia Property Award, also for the Office Development category.
The green office tower in the Kuala Lumpur Sentral CBD was awarded with the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum standard certification from the US Green Building Council and a Malaysian Green Building Index (GBI) certification.
Meanwhile, 9 Seputeh, an ongoing mixed development project, is a mix of commercial and residential units set in the mature neighbourhood of Jalan Klang Lama. The development is envisioned by MRCB as the catalyst to transform Jalan Klang Lama into a more vibrant and modern place in which to live, work and play.
MRCB group chief operating officer Kwan Joon Hoe, who received the award on behalf of the company, said: “Time and again MRCB has proven it has the calibre as a developer of properties that not only gains wide market acceptance, but also recognition for innovative features, lifestyle offerings, convenience and accessibility for owners and tenants.
“A fine example is Menara Shell, which has outstanding features for a conducive and user-friendly office environment that promotes energy-saving and focuses on enhancing efficiency in utilising energy, water and materials.
“All features of this building are meant to provide the best working experience for the long term, in line with MRCB’s commitment towards sustainable development.”
The ultramodern Menara Shell features a unique daylight-harvesting system utilising internal light shelves with glare control to extend daylight penetration within the work spaces inside the office floor, which is alternatively illuminated by efficient T5 fluorescent lights with perimeter daylight sensor.
With good inter-city and Klang Valley rail connectivity, Menara Shell attracts Fortune 500 businesses, as well as top Malaysian corporations and government agencies, while integrating into the low-scale surroundings of Brickfields.
The transformation of Brickfields via the rise of the Kuala Lumpur Sentral CBD may just be replicated in Jalan Klang Lama by the emergence of 9 Seputeh.
The project, located within the Seputeh vicinity of Jalan Klang Lama, sits on 7ha of prime land, cocooned within the commercial and retail hubs of Bangsar, KL Sentral and Mid Valley.
Key amenities and lifestyle needs are mere minutes away. Accessibility would be via the New Pantai Expressway (NPE) and the Federal Highway. MRCB’s strategy to maximise connectivity for 9 Seputeh includes the building of a dedicated overhead bridge to connect Jalan Klang Lama with the link road from the Federal Highway leading to the NPE.
The RM135mil bridge will be situated on the east bank of Sungai Klang, close to the third mile mark of Jalan Klang Lama, and will include a dedicated covered link bridge to a proposed monorail station.
Once completed, 9 Seputeh will be the area’s tallest structure with signature retail and commercial components, as well as chic residences and SOHO suites.
