Plan amended to allow change of land status
THE Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) has amended its local plan to allow owners to convert the status of their land.
MPSJ president Datuk Asmawi Kasbi said the public had been informed about the change through the print media.
Owners can now apply to change the status of their land from housing to commercial and from commercial to industrial.
The state planning committee, he added, would have to approve the conversion.
Asmawi also said the list of owners who had asked for their plots of land would be put on public display for feedback.
“The public will be heard and local councillors can also object to the conversion,” he said during MPSJ’s fullboard meeting on Thursday.
So far, 44 landowners have submitted applications to convert the status of their respective plots.
The change is in line with MPSJ’s 2030 strategic plan and would cater to future and current developments.
Councillor Ken Chia said many landowners in USJ 1 planned to change the status of the land from industrial to commercial.
Aside from the views of the public, the landowners must get consent from the state planning committee before they convert the zoning of their land through the Land Office.
Chia said after the first public display, objections must be forwarded to MPSJ within a month.
“If there are objections, then MPSJ will hold a meeting with the landowner and those objecting to the conversion,” he said.
Details of MPSJ’s strategic plans can be obtained during its Open Day in Putra Heights from June 14 to 15.
