ASEAN’s tallest skyscraper to be completed in six years
Grand Canal Land this week unveiled plans to erect the tallest building in the ASEAN region with the ‘Super Tower’ project in Bangkok’s new Grand Rama 9 central business district.
Measuring 615 metres, the mixed-use tower will comprise 125 storeys and succeed Kuala Lumpur’s Petronas Twin Towers, which stand at 452 metres and are currently the tallest towers in Southeast Asia.

DBKL: Resume projects or make sites safe
TWELVE out of the 38 major abandoned projects in Kuala Lumpur have been deserted for between six and 18 years.
Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Seri Ahmad Phesal Talib said Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) took a serious view on projects that were not completed as scheduled, which comprised mostly commercial entities or mixed development projects such as hotels and offices.

One-way loop system in PJ to start on Sunday
The trial one-way system in Petaling Jaya will take effect this Sunday and mayor Datin Paduka Alinah Ahmad is keeping her staff on standby to ensure the plan works.
She said about 50 Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) enforcement officers and staff from the relevant departments such as engineering as well as the traffic police would be stationed along the trial route in Section 52 on Sunday.

Customs Dept: GST to have minimal impact on home prices
PETALING JAYA: The Goods and Services Tax (GST) will only have an impact of between 0.5% and 2% on housing prices, assuming there is no change in supply and demand conditions, according to Customs Department GST director Datuk Subromaniam Tholasy.

According to Cushman & Wakefield's newly released 'Winning in Growth Cities' report, New York attracted the most commercial real estate investment during the last year as the global real estate investment market saw volumes increase by 17.2% to $788 billion. While a number of cities still dominate, activity is spreading to an increased number of global markets as investors relax their risk tolerance.

Are land prices too high?
EVERYONE is aware that there is a link between land values and property prices.
Prices of service apartments in KL City Centre (KLCC) are priced higher than those in Mont’Kiara or Petaling Jaya because land values in KLCC are higher. This is the conventional thinking and is often echoed by various stakeholders in the property development industry to explain why certain properties have to be priced at such high prices and built at such high plot ratios and/or density as the land was purchased at a very high price.

Relocations, tenants' surplus space to add over 1m sq ft to office supply: DTZ
[SINGAPORE] Close to one million sq ft of office space will become available next year when tenants move out of existing buildings to their new offices, according to DTZ. In addition, there is currently around 550,000 sq ft of shadow office space - space made available for subletting or reassignment by tenants - plus another 133,000 sq ft of shadow space expected to be released next year.

Prices of most expensive properties in London plummeting, new data suggests
House prices in London's most expensive areas are plummeting, sparking fears of a domino effect of house price falls across the UK, it is claimed.
The latest data from Home.co.uk shows falls in six out of 10 of the UK's most expensive areas, all of which are in central London.
